1. The night before. Reserve your sailing if you have not already. Check the departure time on the schedule and note the check-in cut-off.
2. Morning. Make coffee and breakfast in the kitchen. Nothing at the terminal is guaranteed to be open for the earliest sailings.
3. Leave the suite. Allow about 10 minutes to the terminal, and a little more on holiday weekends. Head for Highway 17 and follow it to the end of the causeway.
4. Check in. Vehicles go through the ticket booths; foot passengers park in the short-term lot or get dropped at the foot-passenger building.
5. Sail. The crossing to Swartz Bay takes about 1 hour 35 minutes; to Duke Point about 2 hours.

Getting here

• By car from Vancouver. Highway 99 south, then Highway 17 toward the ferry terminal. Downtown Vancouver to the terminal is about 36 km, roughly 36 minutes without traffic, and the suite is a few minutes off that route; from downtown allow about 40 minutes.

Tsawwassen is small and everything is a short drive.
